Description
Coated VICRYL RAPIDE™ Suture, Size 5/0, 18", Braided, is a sterile, synthetic absorbable suture composed of Polyglactin 910, a copolymer of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. It is designed for use in procedures where short-term wound support is sufficient and rapid absorption is desired. The suture is coated to enhance handling and knot security while minimizing tissue drag.
Coated VICRYL RAPIDE™ is especially suited for superficial soft tissue approximation in areas of low tension, such as skin and mucosal closures. Its rapid absorption and low inflammatory response make it advantageous over traditional chromic gut sutures, particularly in pediatric and cosmetic closures.
The braided configuration enhances flexibility and suture handling. The fast-absorbing profile eliminates the need for suture removal, making it ideal for use in outpatient settings and in patients where suture follow-up is difficult or undesirable. It is not recommended for use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic, or neurological procedures.
